Making of – Atelier Luxembourg
Over the last few years, a lot of exhibitions and initiatives have been dedicated to young, emerging, Luxembourgish artists, often offering them excellent exhibition platforms accompanied by substantial catalogues. For this reason, we believe that, in the framework of
Atelier Luxembourg*, to offer an umpteenth exhibition on young contemporary art would be, at least concerning the Casino Luxembourg, superfluous, and that it would not bring anything more to our artists.
On the other hand, a more pertinent question would be: apart from the works of art presented in the exhibitions, what do we really know about our artists’ work? Faithful to the goal that the Casino Luxembourg sets itself, which is the development of the “forum” aspect based on creation and production,
Making of takes an interest in the artists first of all, and in their working environment, by transforming our institution halls into artists workshops. The invited artists thus work on the spot at Casino Luxembourg in order to make it their creative workspace and to develop their work there.
The opposite of a “best of” which would present “newcomers” of contemporary art in Luxembourg,
Making of divulges the artists’ work behind the scenes, time spent in the workshop, and the creative process, transforming the Casino into a real “contemporary art forum” during a project.

Gast Bouschet & Nadine Hilbert
In close relation with the aesthetic and conceptual work that they develop, the artists, Gast Bouschet and Nadine Hilbert, will present a series of sound and video installations in the historical cellars of the Casino Luxembourg. With a will to move away from the “white cube”, the artists take full possession of the cellars in order to mix their own images with the underground architecture of the ancient, bourgeois Casino.
