Tribute to Franz Liszt
As every 19 July since 1999, Casino Luxembourg is pleased to commemorate the anniversary of the last public appearance of Franz Liszt, which took place at the Casino Bourgeois on 19 July 1886. This year, dieb13 has been invited to interpret a programme that includes a world premiere commissioned by Casino Luxembourg.
dieb13: Liszts Musik schreddert...
On stage dieb13 uses a computer and record players as well as hand-made and “ready-to-use” vinyls. With his own software he transforms the original sound material into polymorphous sound sculptures. Liszts Musik schreddert... is inspired by three pieces played by Franz Liszt on 19 July 1886. Thus dieb13 takes us to a musical journey from the 19th to the 21st century.
Dieter Kovacic a.k.a. dieb13 (born in 1973, lives and works in Vienna) defines himself as a “conscientious copyright-objector”. Since the late 1980s he has worked continuously in rendering cassette players, vinyls, CDs and hard disks into instruments. His innovative work soon became internationally acclaimed. Beside his solo projects dieb13 also performs with Orchester 33 1/3, efzeg, Kovacic/Kurzmann-Duo, Shabotinski, NotTheSameColor and Läuse. He composes music for theatres and video productions, and works in collaboration with artists such as Otomo Yoshihide, Merzbow, eRikm, Bernhard Lang. His work can be found on different labels: 1.8sec, Antifrost, Charhizma, Durian, en/of, Erstwhile, Grob, Transacoustic.
