Lecture by Marko Mäetamm
In his recent art practice, Marko Mäetamm's family plays an essential role. During the lecture, the Estonian artist will focus on some particular projects he has recently exhibited or which he works on at the moment. He will point out some impulses that play an essential role in triggering his ideas and make him generate these works. Comments about the making of of his artworks, i.e. the journey from getting the idea until the final piece, will be part of his speech as well as images and videos of his artwork. Finally he will talk about some aims and expectations he is trying to achieve through his art practice.
Marko Mäetamm graduated at the Estonian Academy of Arts. He is currently holding the position of dean in the Faculty of Fine Arts. He started his career in art already in his student years working mainly in lithography and painting. From 2001 on, when he began combining different medias in his projects, his career has reached international status. He was selected to represent Estonia during the Venice Biennale in 2007.
